TYPEFACES OF THE FALLEN
To honor the hundreds of Canadians lost annually to work-related accidents, mnn collaboration with WSIB we made 'Typefaces of the Fallen'. This unique typeface, hand-crafted and custom-built, immortalizes the Canadians who never returned home from work. Each letter, from A to Z, is a tribute to a worker's life, embodying their spirit in a lasting memorial.
The Letters
These letters transformed workplace safety communication. Mounted near machinery and potential hazards, they're more than just signs; they're powerful stories of individuals, a stark reminder of the real risks of unsafe work environments.
Day of Mourning
Typefaces of the Fallen resonated beyond its initial scope, becoming the cornerstone of the 2018 Day of Mourning campaign. This poignant typeface connected with employees across the province, featuring prominently in transit media and other traditional outlets. The campaign's most impactful element was the in-memoriam streetcar in Toronto. Empty and solemn, it traversed the city's streets during rush hour, a moving tribute to those who never completed their final commute home. This powerful symbol captured the nation's attention, featuring on national news and blogs, and amassed over 10 million organic impressions without any media spend."
